Brief History: The second born son of Sandy and Tom Lucas, Joe is the suave, super cool, sometimes goofy lead singer/tambourine player/guitarist/keyboardist for Jonas, the band he formed with his older brother, Kevin, and younger brother, Nick. When Joe was little, the Lucas family moved from a small town in New Jersey to a large city, and into a refurbished firehouse on Jonas Street. The street name was the inspiration for the brothers' band. After a few years and a lot of struggle and hard work, the boys got a recording contract and became rock stars. They hired their best friend and neighbor, Stella Malone, to be their stylist. After a major tour, their mother decided she wanted them to have a more normal life and enrolled the three boys in the prestigious Horace Mantis Academy, where they tried to maintain a delicate balance of school and career. After graduating from Horace Mantis, Joe found himself unsure of what to do, since Nick had decided to take a hiatus from the band and attend KSU. He's recently made the decision to move to Kansas City to be with his brother. He doesn't really have much interest in going to college, so he's taking a job at the local ice cream shop, Sprinklies.

Joe had never really stopped to consider what he might like to be if Jonas, the band he'd formed with his two brothers, had ever disbanded. He'd honestly never thought that Kevin, Nick or he would ever want to stop being rock stars, so when Nick announced that he was taking a hiatus from the band to go to college, Joe had been deeply shocked.
Kevin and he had tried to continue on without Nick, but things were just a little lackluster. That special little something that Nick brought to the band was missing, and not even their youngest brother, Frankie, could replace it. It hadn't felt right to go onstage without Nick, to rehearse without Nick, to even write songs without Nick. Even their loft-style bedroom in the firehouse felt more than a little empty, even though Frankie tried moving into Nick's area.
It just wasn't the same, and Kevin and Joe made the mutual decision to put Jonas on hiatus until further notice. Kevin also decided that he'd give college a try and started taking some classes at the local community college, which left Joe feeling even more out of whack. Oh sure, Kevin hadn't actually left and gone to an entirely different city like Nick, but he was always busy with his homework and studying and taking part in his extracurricular activities. Apparently, his cheerleading days hadn't ended with Horace Mantis Academy.
Joe's father had suggested that Joe take some classes at the community college as well, but Joe had balked at the idea. He hadn't been all that fond of classes at Horace Mantis; the appeal of higher education just wasn't there for him.
He moped and he grumped and he bummed around the firehouse, helping his mom cook and clean, and he found out that he was actually decent with housework, but it just wasn't fulfilling to him. He wasn't happy, and he grew more and more grumpy and depressed, very unlike himself.
Then, one day, he had a brilliant idea! He'd go to Kansas City with Nick! Sure, he had no interest in going to college, but maybe he could get a job! Yeah, he could totally get a job! Maybe he could work somewhere fun, like...an ice cream shop! Yeah!
So he got online, checked things out, found out that there was an ice cream shop in Kansas City that was hiring, and then he made the arrangements to get an apartment -- he needed a place to stay, after all, since he doubted he could bunk with Nick oncampus -- and before he knew it, he was kissing his parents, Kevin and Frankie goodbye and heading off. His adventure was about to begin!
